Welcome to the sixth issue of the “Che! Dame los cinco” newsletter.

For the new folks joining us, I send these 5 things for you every Monday morning:

  1. a new word

  2. a piece about Argentinian culture

  3. a new expression

  4. a piece of content I recommend

  5. an exercise for improving your Spanish

📖 Palabra - zarpado

Synonym for copado which we covered in a previous issue. Basically means really good, or cool.

Eu, zarpado hotel elegiste.
Este juego esta re zarpado!

🧉 Cultura - choripan

Man, don’t those look delicious? I’d describe this as a gourmet hotdog. It’s essentially a sausage in a baguette with a special sauce on top. And not surprisingly, it doesn’t require too much effort to make! Here’s a recipe in English that I found the other day.

🗨️ Expresión - al toque

My friend Tony taught me this the other day and it means “right away.” Here’s an example I pulled from Twitter:

🔗 Contenido - Violetta

This was the TV show I watched on Disney+ that helped me reach a very high level of listening in Spanish. I like it because it’s slice of life, has good subtitles and it has 3 seasons with around 60 episodes each. Here’s the trailer.

💪🏼 Ejercicio - Start a Twitter Account

One of the best tips I learned from Refold was to create separate social media accounts. I did this back in Jan. 2022 and have since made tons of friends who are native Spanish speakers. Highly recommend giving this a try.

Thanks for reading! Espero que disfrutes la semana 😄

Abrazo de tu amigo,
- Joe
