Che! Dame los cinco #22
22?! Wow, I can't believe it!
Che! Cómo andas?
Welcome to the “Che! Dame los cinco” newsletter.
For the new folks joining us, I send these 4 things for you every Monday morning:
a new word
a new expression
a piece of content
an exercise for improving your Spanish
📖 Palabra - lolazo
If I'm understanding correctly, this is the Spanish equivalent of "lmao” in slang. So you know how "lol” is “laughing out loud” and “lmao” is one level higher?
In Argentinian slang, lolazo is the lmao.
Lol= jajajajaja
Lolazo= JAJAJAJAJAJA
🗨️ Expresión - qsy
qsy is slang or shorthand for qué se yo which I translate to “what do I know” and is a common Argentinian expression. Now you can use it in a text conversation with a native and blend in!
🔗 Contenido - Kids Shows in Spanish on YouTube
I'm in a Whatsapp group with a bunch of other bilingual families here in Phoenix and someone asked for kids shows like Dora The Explorer. At first, I thought about replying.
“I have a ton of recommendations!” Then I stopped. Instead of posting here, let's make a blog post and link to that here in the message. That way, I can share outside the Whatspp group.
And now you have a list of shows (some that use Argentinian Spanish) made for kids which can be great resources for easing into native content. Enjoy!
💪🏼 Ejercicio - *Rethinking this section, what do you think?
I was thinking about it and I want to rethink this section of the newsletter…This should be called a “mini-exercise” and it should be something you can do in less than one minute.
Before, I was trying to get creative. And I did, but I'm kinda running out of ideas 😅
And I also want it to be something I myself would try when I read this email Monday morning. What do you think? Would that be helpful?
Open to suggestions as well!
Thanks for reading! Espero que disfrutes la semana 😄
Abrazo de tu amigo,
- Joe
PS — Can you share this newsletter with a friend? We only need a couple more to hit 100!
